Paul Toukatly’s Memorial Fund:

Update & Thank You

Hello CFESA!

Two weeks have gone by since our father, Paul, passed to Heaven. I was humbled when I found out that he
wanted to encourage people to give to Let Them LOL, the organization I work for, in lieu of flowers. Dad
and I had traveled together to Sierra Leone a year ago and the trip had meant a lot to both of us. Every
time I met someone for the following year they told me that Paul had shared with them about the trip
and the impact that LOL is having.

We decided that we would love to see a water well drilled in Dad’s name and that this would be a fun way
to involve any family and friends who were interested in helping. This was a new experience for our
family and LOL and we didn’t know how people would respond.

Then, all of a sudden, the floodgates opened. Mom, Matt, Katie, Mary and I and our families sat
around in a circle hitting “refresh” as fast as possible, shocked as donations came in from all over the
country. Friends we hadn’t seen in years, friends of friends, distant family members, past employees
and Dad’s fellow equipment service companies. We were overwhelmed that the funding for his well was
achieved in less than 24 hours and then…CFESA stepped up!

When CFESA contacted our family we were floored, Dad loved CFESA and our family have spent a lot
of time with so many members that you all have become an extended part of our family.

Paul was always about helping, but he was much more about teaching you, so you could do it for
yourself. He would help and not expect anything in return. He would take the time to walk the person
through how to do it. And it’s continuing now, helping people get clean water so that they can become
healthy and stop spending hours a day fetch-
ing water. Relieving this enormous problem
allows people to be healthier, keeps children from
dying and begins to open up all kinds of possi-
bilities of working to build a future instead of
just surviving day to day.

With the money that’s been raised so far by
CFESA, we will be able to drill 3 additional
wells in Paul’s name.

Paul’s wells are now in line to be drilled in the
Fall. A thank you letter will never be enough, it
will never convey what should be conveyed and
will never show completely what this has meant
to our family.
